Who we are
Dr Jonny Miller trained as a Biomedical Scientist through his BSc in Biomedical Sciences and PhD in Immunology (University of Manchester, UK), before turning his research interests towards Ecology and Genetics in the Neotropics. Through his varied fieldwork, research in conservation genetics, and building education programs, Jonny has managed expeditions to remote environments in Honduras, Chile, Paraguay and Costa Rica on behalf of various organizations. Jonny has been responsible for the welfare of up to 300 scientists, volunteers and students at a time on expeditions lasting as long as 3 months. Jonny's key to success in these endeavours is establishing rigorous safety training programs as well as solid protocols and communication for handling extreme situations effectively. Jonny has over 30 years of experience handling snakes, from caring for his beloved childhood pet snakes, to studying species diversity and extracting lethal venom, to rescuing and releasing snakes back into the wild. Due to Jonny's unusual combination of roles in the medical sciences, ecology, logistics, and education, Jonny's training services have been sought out and greatly valued by organizations looking to protect their staff, clients and guests from snakes.
